Beyond the Selfie
My Artist statement:
What had brought me to photography 1 was the fact that I love photography. I have loved photography since a young age and I still yearn to learn more.
What I have learned on photography is a very large amount of different things about it. I have not only learned about how to properly use photoshop to help enhance my photos but I have learned a lot of different styles such as infrared, macro, and leading lines just to name a few.
Photography has helped me lear more about myself in a sense that I learned that I like to go the extra mile when it comes to something I love a lot.
The challenge I had this semester was getting photos just how the assignment wanted them. I wanted to make them perfect so that I would get a good grade but since there is no perfect I was under a lot of stress a lot of the time.
My best work I did this semester would have to be my macro aperture pictures and my scavenger hunt pictures because of how detailed and amazing they look. My favorite project had to be the cherry blossoms because I love the blossoms and how pretty they look.
If I could retry any project over again it would be the light writing because it's very complicated and I couldn't get my pictures just right.
In my first image, I had incorporated the symbolism for my expectations that people have of me. Such as I have to be an amazing athlete like my mom was, or be outstanding in math and be in an advanced math class, preferentially the fact that everyone expects me to be able to do realistic portraits, or even how people expect me to be a huge gamer with my limitations on games I can play.
In my second image, I had the idea of my web of thoughts. I'm always trying to concentrating but my thoughts always run wild and I have a hard time concentrating.
These all represent me by how I am. Trying to live up to my expectations the best I can or how I try to find ways to concentrate. Even if I fall short I really do try to fix them all.
If someone looks at my images I would want them to leave thinking about how they see them at first and then trying to see them for who they are not by how they appear.
To the future photography student: The class is really fun and you lear a whole lot about photography. Mr. Homen is absolutely awesome and very funny with his stories. Work hard and do your best.
Salutations my friends!
